What’s New: Core Additions

The update went live September 13, 2025 and introduces the Volcanic Biome, replacing (temporarily) the Snow Biome, with new items, enemies, mechanics, badges, etc.

Here are the big new features:

Items / Weapons / Gear

Inferno Sword — A melee weapon that sets enemies on fire; helps in “cooking” (i.e. auto-cooking) raw food mobs or raw food drops.

Wildfire Potion — Throw-type consumable; when used it creates a lava pool (or lava effect) in the area. Useful for area damage.

Infernal Sack — New inventory/storage item; holds up to 20 items, and automatically cooks raw food stored in it. So it's both storage and utility.

Crossbow — Ranged weapon; has infinite ammo (or very generous ammo? per the guide). Allows ranged attacks in Volcanic Biome.

New Enemies / Entities

Mega Cultist — A tougher cultist enemy specific to the Volcanic Biome. Likely deals more damage / has more health and possibly special abilities tied to the biome’s theme.

Scorpion — A new enemy, probably small-to-medium size, with behavior fitting volcanic / desert type terrain.

New Locations / Mechanics

Volcanic Biome — The new biome environment where all these new things appear. For now (Part 1) it replaces the Snow Biome; later it becomes a random biome.

Infernal Chests (sometimes called “Hot Chests”) — These are new chests specific to the Volcanic area. They contain high-tier loot: Inferno Sword, Wildfire Potion, Infernal Sack, etc.

Ammo Furnace — A building / structure that allows production (or crafting) of ammo. It’s fueled by burning entities (i.e. kills / corpses / something) to produce ammo; a key resource point in the biome.

Cultist Gem Ritual (“Eye of the Volcano”) — A new ritual / objective: you have to sacrifice / drop eight entities into the Eye of the Volcano to fill/activate gem-slots (“gem-like squares”) on the structure. Once all sacrifices are done, you receive the Cultist Gem.

Badges

There are also several new achievements / badges tied to the Volcanic Biome content:

Resourcefulness — Drop a dead teammate inside the Volcano.

Pest Control — Kill 100 Scorpions.

Metaworking — Craft 50 Ammo Boxes at the Ammo Furnace.

Volcanology — Perform 150 sacrifices at the Volcano (i.e. dropping entities into Eye of Volcano ritual)

(Spoiler-Heavy Mechanics)

Knowing the features is useful, but the interesting part is how they interrelate, and what trade-offs come in.

The Inferno Sword’s fire effect is especially useful in the volcanic biome, because many raw food drops (or mobs that drop raw food) can be auto-cooked, which saves you fuel / cooking time. But using fire also tends to attract or worsen heat exposure (or hazard) in volcanic zones. Also, fire may not always be ideal if you need to avoid burning something else or causing collateral damage.

Wildfire Potion is strong for area control (crowd damage), but the lava pool it creates probably persists for a time and might block paths or damage the player if used carelessly. Good to use at chokepoints or where enemies cluster.

Infernal Sack is extremely helpful: since it both stores items and cooks raw food automatically, it reduces the burden of needing a campfire or other cooking structure, particularly when far from base. But since it can store up to 20 items, you’ll need to choose what to carry carefully (raw vs high-value drops) because space is limited.

The Ammo Furnace becomes a focal point: having ammo is now essential, especially with the Crossbow and perhaps other ranged builds. Access to it (and keeping it fueled) becomes a strategic goal. Players who explore, kill, collect corpses, etc. should prioritize ammo supply.

The Cultist Gem Ritual / Eye of the Volcano offers high reward but likely comes with risk: dropping 8 entities means exposing yourself (or bringing enemies) to the volcano structure, possibly facing ambushes or environmental hazards. Also, you’ll want to decide which entities to sacrifice (do you sacrifice your own kills / foes, or use lower-value ones). The Cultist Gem probably gives a strong bonus or unlock once you complete the ritual.

Infernal Chests / Hot Chests are high risk / high reward. They contain strong loot but are likely guarded or placed in dangerous terrain. Finding them and reaching them should be part of your mid-to-late game plan in this biome.

Enemies: Mega Cultist is a big threat (stronger damage, likely special attacks). Scorpions likely attack in groups or are fast, might have poison or some hazard. Fighting at range (with Crossbow, thrown items) might be safer than melee sometimes. But melee weapons like Inferno Sword help due to fire/auto-cooking synergy.

Timeline & What to Expect ~ After Part 1

Part 2 of Volcanic Biome is expected September 20, 2025.

After that, the Volcanic Biome will not always be forced (i.e. replacing Snow Biome); it will rotate / appear randomly.

WHAT IS ROBLOX?

Roblox is an online platform and storefront where users go to play games. Roblox is not a game, it is a place where people play games made by other developers. In this sense, it is more similar to PC platform Steam than it is to any online children’s game.

What makes Roblox different from anything else in the games industry — including a storefront like Steam — is that all the games are made by its users. On Roblox, the fun doesn’t just come from playing games, it also comes from making games. These games are not formally developed by Roblox Corporation, but by users of the platform. Currently, the official website boasts that its users have published over 20 million games on the platform.

WHY IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT ROBLOX RIGHT NOW?

Because anyone, including kids, can make a ton of money on the platform. Some developers can earn as much as $1 million in a single year by monetizing their games. Although Roblox and all its games are freely available, many kids buy and spend a virtual currency called Robux on aesthetic items in Roblox games. Roblox developers get to keep a portion of these transactions in the form of Robux. Once a developer makes enough money in Robux, they can use a program called the Developer Exchange (also called DevEx) to convert Robux to real money.

It’s not just individual creators who are cashing in. Roblox Corporation itself is worth a surprising amount of money. Roblox Corporation went public on Wednesday, meaning that it has opened up sales of its shares. Its stock ($RBLX) had a great first day, starting off with a $45 reference price and closing at $69.50 a share. The company ended up with a market capitalization of roughly $45 billion, per a report from The Wall Street Journal. To give you an idea of how huge that is, Epic Games, maker of the ever-popular Fortnite and Unreal Engine software, was valued at $17.3 billion in late 2020. (Epic Games is still a private company.) Roblox’s success on the market, coupled with the fact that the Roblox economy is almost entirely run by young people who can make a lot of money, has intrigued many people.
